Don't be depressed, Chris. You know the Truth -- and the Truth has set you free. Because the Son has set you free, you will be free indeed.

Thanks Brian. In light of the above, I can easily get depressed, that is, apart from the fact that Jesus Christ is Lord and that the Holy Spirit liberates us from bondage, imparts fresh life, and animates the driest and deadest of bones--a fact which your life reminds me of. Thanks brother! CC

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage."

Chris;

Great blog. 2 points:

1) This is precisely what the American people are now telling our government in greater and greater numbers; that they can do better than individuals do. It is caused by ever greater %ages of Americans not knowing the consequences of the transfer of responsibilities from the "personal/individual" to the collective. Ie., What I was once responsible for (housing, medicine, feeding my family, etc.) I now turn over to the government to provide for me. 40% of Americans pay no Federal Income tax. So they get all these services for free; literally, as they pay nothing for them. The other 60% of us are paying for it all.

2) You are a partisan. You are a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You discrimate heavily with every breath you take against false relgion(s). The Gospel is by definition exclusionary (tho all are welcome to join). Therefore, you are a truth-seeker and are compelled to make judgments like the one you make in this blog about collectivizing our health care. We are just umcomfortable when our pastors "start talking politics." True enough, but you are still a partisan; and in a free society, where each individual has responsibility to hire their governmental masters, you have a duty to declare where public policy AND politicians violate scripture. This is Drop-Dead-Easy in some cases (abortion). Less easy in other cases (social justice; ie how much should you or I be compelled to support (thru taxes) programs designed to aid the poor).
